President Kennedy AssassinationNovember 22, 1963 left the United States changed forever. In Dallas, Texas Kennedy was going to visit Dallas for the upcoming Presidential election. That day Kennedy left in his convertible limousine which he never left the top open during large public area. Kennedy was in Dealey Plaza when gunshots were heard. During this whole event it was filmed and Jackie (his wife) was on the top of the car trying to understand what happened. He was shot twice once in the mouth and the second throw the head. He was rushed to the hospital, he was later pronounced dead and LBJ became president. Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the murder of Kennedy. Two days later Oswald was killed by Jack Ruby. To this day there are many conspiracies about the whole event.

Lyndon B. JohnsonAfter the assignation of President Kennedy, LBJ became the United States immediately after. He had eleven months to prove that he could be president of the United States. He first passed the Civil Rights Bill the JFK was going to pass. It banned discrimination based on race and gender in employment and in all public places.
During this time he sponsored the largest reform since Roosevelt's New Deal. He also signed the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. This allowed underprivileged children to be ready for kindergarten by going to preschool. The Act was also in to stopping American poverty at its roots. Were Job Corps was established to help people have the skills needed to get a job. The Volunteers In Service To America (VISTA) was to help peace for Americans. When Asia was having problems, Vietnam war broke out and Johnson put the war on poverty on the back burner. |
