Yalta and Potsdam
YaltaBefore the World War II was over, the allies meet in Yalta to discuss what Europe would look like after the war was over. That was in the year of 1945. Churchill, Roosevelt and Stalin attended the meetings. For Roosevelt it was hard to get his point across to Stalin about land.

PotsdamThe final meeting which took place in Potsdam. It took place after the war in Europe was over in 1945. Truman was at the meeting for he became president after Roosevelt died. Truman knew that the USSR wanted to spread communism from this information Germany was spilt up. France, England and Untied States had West Germany and the USSR had East Germany.

New Alliances
NATOThis created new alliances such as the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization). The NATO was created to stop the spread of communism into other countries so Capitalist countries can still have trade with other countries. Above is a map of the NATO over the years of 1949 to 2009. The second picture shows the logo of the NATO. The NATO would help a country is they were at war against another country, which would being in the whole NATO into the war. The NATO is still active today.

Warsaw Pact
The Warsaw Pact was created by the Soviet Union as a response of the NATO, that England, France and the United States created. This Pact included the following countries in the Iron Curtain of the Soviet Union. Above is a map of the Warsaw Pact along with the logo. The Pact was formed after Stalin died in 1955 to help other communist countries. If any one of these countries went to war, all the other countries would help that country in wartime. The Warsaw Pact was disband after the Cold War was over.

Marshall Plan
The Marshall Plan was created by George Marshall as a way to contain the Soviet Union. He then gave the idea to President Truman, where Truman used the plan. The main point of the plan was to not let Stalin turn Europe into Communism. This would make the United States trading with other countries affect the economy along with other European countries. In the plan, money was sent to the neighboring countries of the USSR's Iron Curtain was. |
